About RCI, Inc.

RCI, Incorporated is an international association of professional consultants, architects, and engineers who specialize in the specification and design of roofing, waterproofing and building envelope systems.

Since 1983 RCI members have offered unbiased design, repair planning, quality observance, legal testimony, and general roof management services. In March of 2006, RCI (formerly Roof Consultants Institute) expanded its mission and service scope to include waterproofing and the building envelope. This action reflects the understanding that roofing issues often influence the entire building envelope. It was discovered that in increasing frequency, RCI members are called upon to address building-wide concerns from below-grade to rooftop.

The Registered Roof Consultant (RRC), Registered Waterproofing Consultant (RWC) and Registered Roof Observer (RRO) programs distinguish professionals with the proven standards of education, experience and ethics.

President's Message

Welcome and thank you for visiting the new RCI Mid-America Chapter web site. I am proud of the work we do and who we go about it. We have an exciting year planned and will add and revise the Calendar/Education content throughout the year. We are poised for growth and have much to be excited about.

RCI-MAC is an affiliated chapter of RCI, Incorporated which is an international association of professional consultants, architects, and engineers who specialize in the specification and design of roofing, waterproofing and exterior wall systems. RCI, Inc. is on the cutting edge of the issues affecting these three industry areas. The Mid-AmericaChapter includes most of Illinois, Missouri, Kansas and some surrounding geography. This makes St. Louis and Kansas City as the primary locations for seminars and meetings. It also presents each of usan excellent opportunity for those looking to grow, learn and excel in our field.

Learning: Technology is changing our industry exponentially and new systems and components are introduced like never before. Keeping up to date on the successes and failures in our industry is critical. Check our calendar for the upcoming programs that will state the number of RCI and AIA Learning Units, (LUs). AIA CES has approved our April 5 Waterproofing seminar for Health, Safety and Welfare credits. Architects can get half of the annual required Mandatory Continuing Education, (MCE), HSW credits in one day. Future seminars and tours will also be submitted for LU/HSWs. The seminars are selected to be interesting and informative and you should also find the fee structure very attractive.

RCI-MAC provides a forum for our industry to come together on a local and regional level to collaborate on issues pressing the industry. Networking potential has never been better. As we move forward in 2012 and beyond, the RCI-MAC team will focus on identifying critical roofing, waterproofing, and exterior wall issues. Where areas are underserved, RCI-MAC will bring in the best experts within their field as well as bring our energy and enthusiasm to each education event. RCI-MAC seminars, demonstrations and tours will provide an opportunity for any of us to have discussions with the presenters. Please consider joining RCI-MAC and volunteer on a committee. You will find that you will not only improve yourself but make the industry better as well.

I look forward to meeting you at the next seminar. Until then, drop me an email or give me a call and tell me what RCI-MAC can do better to serve the three building envelope areas within the Mid-America region.

Best Wishes,
Wm. Brad Poths, RRO
